Dethleffs: new motorhomes and vans at CMT 2026

Dethleffs has chosen CMT Stuttgart (17-25 January 2026) to unveil the low-profile Globebus Performance T16 and two new vans, which expand the Globetrail Active range with new interior layouts, namely the Globetrail Active 540 DS and the Globetrail Active 600 ES. The German manufacturer is also launching a front-wheel drive version of the Globebus Performance, joining the already well-known 4x4 model. Not only that: Dethleffs is also adding the Classic trim level to its van model called Globetrail Performance 600 DR, likewise based on the VW Crafter. Following the successful market launch of the first all-wheel drive Dethleffs motorhome, the Globebus Performance 4x4, the German manufacturer is now expanding the Globebus Performance range: at CMT 2026, a shorter and lighter version is being presented, the Globebus Performance T16 with all-wheel drive. It is 6.25 metres long and has a maximum authorised mass of 3,500 kg, making it drivable with a standard category B licence. A year ago Dethleffs launched the Globebus Performance 4x4 T46, and now comes the reduced-size version, which is appealing to a wider range of buyers. The new Globebus Performance T16 is similar to its larger sibling, but its length is just 625 cm, making it 60 centimetres shorter. This means it is more manoeuvrable and, above all, lighter, which allows for registration at 3.5 tonnes. It can be driven with a category B licence and is not subject to particular speed restrictions. The Globebus Performance T16 is a narrow-bodied low-profile motorhome, being just 220 centimetres wide. Once through the 70-centimetre entrance door, the glazed area on the over-cab dome is immediately appreciated. The standard configuration of the Globebus Performance T16 is designed for two people: it offers a front semi-dinette formed by the cab seats, and a transverse double bed at the rear. An important feature is the bathroom with a rotating wall to create a separate shower area. This vehicle also offers a rear garage in which two bicycles can be stored. The Globebus Performance T16 is built on the Volkswagen Crafter 4x4 mechanical base, with a 163 hp engine, differential lock, 8-speed automatic transmission, uprated suspension, hill start and hill descent assistance, and a reinforced front axle. All of this allows it to tackle even fairly rough unpaved roads with ease. On request, a rear axle with air suspension is also available. On the outside, the metallic grey cab and the flanks in Campovolo grey stand out. The off-road look is provided by 18-inch off-road tyres on matt black Hanma rims, an LED light bar, and roof rails matched with the ladder, all in matt black. The Globebus Performance T16 is designed to guarantee good autonomy when free camping and a high degree of independence from gas. It is equipped with diesel heating and a compressor fridge, as well as a 150 Ah lithium battery (two batteries optional, for a total capacity of 300 Ah). Moving on to the Globetrail Active range, two new interior layouts have arrived. The Globetrail Active 600 ES features twin beds, while the compact Globetrail Active 540 DS features a transverse double bed at the rear. Like all models in the Globetrail Active range, the new variants also feature a practical rotating bathroom. The new range of models is aimed at budget-conscious campers, thanks to an attractive price. With these new proposals, Dethleffs is expanding its Globetrail Active van range, which now comprises five models. The line was launched in summer 2025 with the Globetrail Active 640 ES, the Globetrail Active 600 DS and the Globetrail Active 600 KS. All Globetrail Active models share a modern, space-saving rotating bathroom with a fixed door. Particularly manoeuvrable, the Globetrail Active 540 DS has a vehicle length of just 541 centimetres. At the rear there is a double bed positioned transversely to the direction of travel, measuring 197 centimetres in length.
The Globetrail Active 600 ES, on the other hand, despite its overall length of 599 centimetres, features two twin beds arranged longitudinally to the direction of travel, measuring 191 centimetres and 185 centimetres respectively. The raised position of the beds creates a large storage compartment underneath. To transport bulky travel equipment such as bicycles, the storage space can be considerably increased by lifting the bed. The storage compartment can also be extended forward, right up to the driving cab, by removing the dividing partition. Classic in style, the front semi-dinette is formed by the cab seats. The bathroom, thanks to its rotating wall, can be transformed into a spacious shower cubicle. Standard equipment on the Globetrail Active models includes a compressor fridge (also accessible from the open rear door) and a diesel heating system with an integrated boiler. For those wanting more, the attractively priced "Active" equipment package includes, among other things, 16-inch alloy wheels, cab blackout blinds and more. The new Globetrail Active 540 DS and 600 ES models are based on the Citroën Jumper with a 140 hp engine.
At the CMT Stuttgart show, Dethleffs is also presenting the Globebus Performance on the Volkswagen Crafter with front-wheel drive. This low-profile motorhome with its bold look becomes a more affordable alternative to the well-known all-wheel drive model, while retaining the driving comfort and safety features of the Crafter.
