The 2026 season is fast approaching and Westfalia has decided to unveil an entirely new model that revolutionises on-board space within its well-known range of multi-purpose minivans fitted with pop-up bellows roofs. It is called Kipling, it is built on a Ford Tourneo Custom base in the longer 545cm variant, and its name pays homage to Rudyard Kipling, author of “The Jungle Book”, thereby representing the spirit of exploration that has always characterised Westfalia.
It is a compact van, ideal for those seeking practicality and comfort, and stands out for its permanent transverse bed at the rear, an unusual feature to find on this category of recreational vehicles. This double bed offers genuinely impressive dimensions, especially when considered in relation to the actual size of the vehicle, measuring 190x130cm, achieved thanks in part to the lateral extensions of the bodywork. It features a slatted base that can be partitioned, providing, as a result, a generous rear loading area that can be configured to suit individual needs, thereby guaranteeing excellent versatility of use and the possibility of stowing the most varied types of equipment, without compromising on-board comfort.
But that is not all: naturally, a second double bed can be found in the pop-up bellows roof (measuring 192x128cm), allowing the new Kipling to comfortably accommodate up to four people overnight as well. The upper bed is also equipped with a panoramic fabric mosquito net, so occupants can relax whilst fully enjoying the surrounding scenery.
The Kipling is naturally equipped with a fully fitted kitchen, complete with a two-burner hob, sink and 51-litre compressor fridge. Standard equipment includes both a 50-litre fresh water tank and a hot water boiler, whilst a fixed toilet with a removable cassette can be requested as an option.
The living area is equally comfortable, comprising a rear bench facing forward and the swivelling seats of the driving cab, thereby making it possible to gather the whole crew, without any difficulty, around its central table. Furthermore, thanks to the two rear sliding doors, the living area can be accessed from both sides. As for the mechanical base used, finally, the Ford Tourneo Custom is available in two different power variants, namely 136 or 170 hp, both of which can also be paired with an automatic transmission.
