Laika and Honda Racing Corporation together to South America for te Dakar Race

Next year will open for Laika with an important new challenge in South America: the 37th edition of the Dakar.

The tuscan company of winged dog has immediately accepted the proposal of the famous Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), which was looking for a reliable and prestigious brand that would accompany the riders during the Dakar race 2015.

This famous,f ascinating and dangerous race  has a circular route, starting and finishing in Buenos Aires. The sand and the dunes of Argentina, Chile and Bolivia, will be the scene of arduous and endless paths which take place from 4th  to 17th January 2015.

The two Laika protagonists are the low-profile Ecovip 309 on Fiat Ducato chassis and the couchbuilt Kreos 3001 on Iveco Daily chassis. Two vehicles with different specifications have all the advantages of Laika excellences with outstanding insulation to protect the drivers from the scorching heat of the desert and the arctic temperatures of more than 4,000 meters above sea level in the Andes, the body structure that ensures an excellent thermal stability and the confort.

The Honda Racing Corporation’s riders, Helder Rodrigues, Joan Barreda, Paulo Goncalves, Israel Jeremias will use the Kreos 3001 and the Ecovip 309 like real homes in which they can relax after each race, thanks to the comfortable beds and as office for the preparation of the daily road book, thanks to the spacious living  of the two vehicles. Among the drivers of Honda Racing Corporation there is the "Superwoman" of Off-Road competitions, Laia Sanz, who after the successes achieved in Trial, looked for other challenges such as the Enduro or Dakar rally. In Enduro Laia has recently  won his third world title, while in the Dakar rally of last year she has ended as the best woman (16th overall). Laia has a own Laika vehicle that she uses during the trips through Europen and for the Dakar to realx after the race, and to have the possibility, thanks to the big kitchen, to follow the diet prescribed before each race. In the living room of her low- profile she receives the journalist for interwies after the races.

So, Martino Bianchi, Genaral Manager of HRC, explains the reasons that led the Japanese team to choose as their partner Laika: "It's the first time that HRC  has as sponsorship  a house of recreational vehicles. The choice of Laika is based on the quality of the vehicles… HRC needs super vehicles tested also in the most inaccessible climatic conditions and on various types of terrain. The two Laika vehicles that we have chosen, have very good characteristics to support our team during a long and grueling race like the Dakar. "
