2027 Previews and New Models: Westfalia

For the 2027 season Westfalia focuses on innovation and tradition, presenting first of all two highly appealing new models. On the one hand the new Columbus Liner, set to redefine the concept of the premium van, and on the other the Sven Hedin 50 Years Edition, a special series celebrating half a century of one of the most iconic models in the brand's history.
 
Westfalia Columbus Liner: a new concept of premium van
 
With the new Columbus Liner, Westfalia kicks off a new way of interpreting the world of the van. While retaining the compact dimensions typical of a panel van, thanks also to the starting base represented by the Fiat Ducato with a length of 636 cm and H3 high roof, this model introduces an original layout developed over three levels, designed to offer the spaciousness typical of larger motorhomes within a far more agile vehicle.

 

The absolute star is the rear king-size double bed, placed on a dedicated level, reachable via convenient fixed steps and connected directly to the innovative Sky-Lounge, a panoramic roof terrace available as an option, designed to provide an exclusive outdoor space where you can relax and enjoy the view from above. A decidedly unconventional idea that helps create a living experience unprecedented in the van segment.

 

Great attention has also been given to energy autonomy. The optional packages provide up to 540 Ah of lithium batteries, a 3.000 W inverter, a 165 W solar panel and an induction hob, allowing long periods of use without the need to connect to the mains. Designed for outdoor enthusiasts, the Columbus Liner also features a large XXL rear garage completely separated from the living area, ideal for bicycles and sports equipment, with the option of installing the Thule VeloSlide system that facilitates loading operations without removing the wheels.

 

The project is completed by the fully heated double floor, the new "Liner" bathroom with retractable WC and fold-away washbasin, a full kitchen, numerous intelligent storage solutions and a particularly bright front living area thanks to the panoramic front skylight.

2026 marks fifty years since the debut of the first Westfalia Sven Hedin, a model that has profoundly shaped the history of the European motorhome. To celebrate this important anniversary, the Sven Hedin 50 Years Edition was created, a special series combining references to tradition in the look with latest-generation technological equipment. The trim stands out for the exclusive exterior colours Light Ivory, Pure Grey and Grey White, matched with dedicated graphics that reinterpret the style of the first generations in a modern key.

Inside, the new retro-style upholstery stands out, designed specifically for this celebratory edition and made with quality materials. The standard equipment is particularly rich and includes the Premium Package, the Multimedia Package, the Westfalia Connect system, a 120 W solar panel and two 100 Ah lithium batteries, confirming the manufacturer's growing attention towards energy autonomy.

On the multipurpose minivan front, one of the most original models in the 2027 range is certainly the Kipling. Built on the base of the Ford Tourneo Custom in the 545 cm long variant, it offers a decidedly unusual living solution for this segment, focusing on a successful balance between compactness, comfort and versatility.

The element that sets it apart is the permanent transverse double bed located at the rear, a rare solution on a vehicle in this category. It measures 190x130 cm and makes use of the lateral extensions of the bodywork to guarantee a very respectable sleeping space. The slatted base is also partitionable and sliding, allowing you to expand the rear load compartment as desired to transport sports equipment or bulky luggage without giving up the functionality of the vehicle. To this is added the second double bed created in the pop-up bellows roof, which allows the Kipling to offer four sleeping berths.

The living area is completed by a well-equipped in-line kitchen, with a two-burner hob, sink and compressor fridge, while the standard equipment includes a 50-litre fresh water tank and the boiler for hot water. For those who want greater autonomy, a fixed WC with removable cassette is also available. The living area is also well designed, using the rear bench and the swivelling front seats to create a dinette capable of comfortably seating four people around the central table.

The two sliding side doors also facilitate access to the living area from both sides of the vehicle.
