Teleco expands the Ultra Comfort range

The new 9000M for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter makes its debut at the Caravan Salon

Teleco has announced the Ultra Comfort 9000M air conditioner, a version designed specifically for vehicles built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter base. The new model will be officially presented at the upcoming Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, where it will make its world debut. The Ultra Comfort 9000 is not simply an adaptation of the system already available for Stellantis platforms, but a project started from scratch. The profound design differences between the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the other mechanicals available on the market required dedicated development both from a mechanical standpoint and in terms of integration within the engine compartment. To adapt to the various Sprinter configurations, Teleco has developed two distinct variants of the new Ultra Comfort 9000M.

The MS version is dedicated to front-wheel drive vehicles, while the MV version is engineered for rear-wheel drive ones. Both are suitable for vans, vans with pop-up bellows roofs and low-profile motorhomes with lengths roughly between 6 and 7.5 metres. The different arrangement of the mechanical components within the engine compartment in fact required two specific configurations, in order to guarantee performance, reliability and ease of installation regardless of the type of vehicle. The system cannot be installed on vehicles fitted with a manual transmission. Like all the air conditioners in the Ultra Comfort family, the new model too features an architecture that allows for easy installation both during the fitting-out of the vehicle and as an aftermarket accessory. The internal unit is perfectly integrated into the dashboard, while the compressor is installed within the engine compartment, remaining completely hidden from view. This solution eliminates the need for an external unit on the vehicle roof, preserving its aesthetics and reducing the overall weight by up to five kilograms compared with the traditional models available on the market.

The absence of components on the upper part of the vehicle makes it possible to preserve the brightness of the skylights and their natural ventilation function, making the system particularly suitable also for camper vans with pop-up bellows roofs, where the installation of classic air conditioners is often problematic. The roof also remains free of obstructions that could penalise the vehicle's aerodynamics. The internal unit of the Ultra Comfort 9000M, discreet and perfectly integrated into the furnishings, distributes the conditioned air from the bottom upwards, eliminating the diffusers positioned on the ceiling and the annoying jets of cold air directed at people. The vents, which can be oriented in any direction, and the three ventilation speeds, combined with the automatic mode, allow for a uniform distribution of temperature within the living area.

The installation of the compressor in the engine compartment helps to reduce perceived noise and vibrations inside the vehicle, thus improving comfort during stops and making night-time rest more pleasant. The complete integration of the system also offers greater protection from accidental knocks, weather conditions and attempted theft. The Ultra Comfort 9000M is designed to effectively air-condition motorhomes and camper vans up to about 7.5 metres in length: it offers a cooling capacity of 7,900 BTU/h (2,310 W) and a heating output of up to 7,560 BTU/h thanks to the heat pump, thus allowing its use during much of the year. The nominal current draw is 4.4 A, with a power consumption of approximately 1,000 W in cooling mode. The air conditioner requires a 230 V, 50 Hz power supply.

For use via the 12 V leisure battery, including when wild camping, Teleco provides for pairing with the dedicated TI 2000 SI-ACT inverter, which generates a stable 230 V sine wave. For effective use away from the mains supply, a correctly sized system is recommended, with a LiFePO4 battery pack of at least 100 Ah, taking into account the required autonomy and the other loads present on board. All functions can be managed via remote control, while the integrated display makes it possible to view the set temperature.

In line with Teleco's Smart Camper philosophy, the new Ultra Comfort 9000M can be connected via Wi-Fi to the 4G WLT24EX2 or 5G WLT58EX onboard router and controlled through the dedicated app, even remotely. As optional equipment, the system can be fitted with Steril Air Pro, the patented technology that combines UV-A LEDs and photocatalytic filters to help purify the air in the living area and reduce odours, bacteria, viruses and allergens.

A solution designed to improve the quality of the onboard environment, even in the presence of children or pets. Particular attention has also been dedicated to simplifying the installation operations. All components are connected by means of flexible hoses already pre-charged with R1234yf refrigerant and fitted with quick couplings: a solution that makes it possible to significantly reduce assembly times and installation costs.
