Rapido Group launches a partnership with reforest'action

The environment is everybody’s responsibility and everything we do today must work towards minimising our impact on ecosystems. Rapido Group’s work embraces this spirit of environmental responsibility through the brands it manufactures in Mayenne (Rapido, Itineo and Dreamer). Thanks to this new partnership with Reforest’Action, the Group can help tackle this issue.
Local commitment
Rapido Group Mayenne is proud of its roots and is getting involved long-term by helping with the development of a forest located near its production sites, more specifically in the Sillé-le-Guillaume forest in Vimarcé, a massive forest managed by the ONF (National Forest Office). “This tree planting project will help change an ecosystem ill-suited to the soil, improve biodiversity and establish this repopulation long-term. Significant focus has been put on adapting the forest and combating climate change,” says Joël Linte, ONF Regional Unit Manager for the Sarthe and Mayenne regions. For its part, Reforest’Action has calculated the future expected socio-environmental benefits of the planting: 83 work days created, 10 tonnes of carbon stored (equal to the emissions of a car travelling 2 million kilometres), 4,000 animal shelters created and over 660 years of oxygen generated.

Commitment benefiting the environment
Since 2010, Reforest’Action has worked to combat deforestation and restore damaged forests. The company has a social agenda and works through various partnerships to achieve a significant environmental impact by planting trees. “Enabling everyone to have a positive impact on the world, one tree at a time: this is Reforest’Action’s vision,” shares Stéphane Hallaire, Reforest’Action President. “We are excited to establish this partnership with Rapido Group and can’t wait to start the first plantings.”

Partnership with customer involvement
“We have made an initial commitment to plant 2,000 trees. The environmental benefits estimated by Reforest’Action are exciting! We decided to choose the closest possible forest to our employees and one with free public access. That means everyone benefits from our environmental work,” explains Vincent Rabut, Rapido Marketing Manager. Next, Reforest’Action will plant trees on the site with ONF in March 2018.
Long-standing social responsibility
This environmentally-responsible approach can also be seen in the Rapido Group Mayenne’s recreational vehicle manufacturing process. Everything is done to ensure the business continues to thrive, while protecting our natural resources:
  • A modern, well-designed assembly plant: heat pumps, lighting that adapts to natural light levels, waste water recycling from vehicle water tightness tests, etc.
  • Strong local roots to protect the local economy while reducing the environmental impact of long- distance shipping.
  • Optimised waste processing. Every year: 13,000 pallets are refurbished, 60 tonnes of cardboar disrecycled, 25 tonnes of plasticis recycled, 160 tonnes of sawdust is made into fuel
