Is a new approach to recreational vehicle kitchens possible? Here it is: a single, integrated structure that combines the cold chain with cooking functions.
One unit, multiple functions
Xfresh is the solution by
HMT Systems designed to reimagine the kitchen in recreational vehicles, maximizing efficiency and space utilization even in the most compact layouts.
It is a monobloc unit comprising a refrigerator, a freezer, a room-temperature food storage compartment, an integrated ice production and beverage dispensing system, a sink, and an induction hob.
The objective is to combine various functions, traditionally distributed across multiple elements of a camper or van kitchen, into a single configurable module intended for integration into newly designed layouts.
This setup can be particularly appealing to manufacturers of campervans, motorhomes, and vans, who are consistently challenged to balance living comfort, functionality, and space optimization.
Food preservation
One of the most interesting features of Xfresh is the module's total capacity, stated by HMT to be 187 liters, divided among three distinct storage zones.
The configuration includes:
- 109 liters for the refrigerated compartment;
- 28 liters for the freezer compartment;
- 50 liters for the room-temperature storage compartment.
This subdivision provides distinct spaces for fresh food, frozen products, and foods that do not require refrigeration.
It is not merely a large refrigerator, but rather a multifunction system that integrates different preservation modes within a single unit.
Independent temperature management
Special attention has also been paid to managing the different internal zones. In fact, Xfresh features independent electronic sensors for each temperature zone.
Furthermore, the system allows users to assign either cooling or room-temperature modes to individual compartments, offering configurable management of the storage spaces.
This feature allows the operation of the various zones to be adapted to specific user needs, distinguishing spaces meant for refrigeration from those dedicated to room-temperature preservation.
Ice production
Among the integrated functions, the ice production system stands out, with a manufacturer-stated capacity of 12 kg per 24 hours.
This feature further expands the utility of the on-board kitchen, complementing traditional refrigeration and preservation functions with a dedicated ice-making solution.
HMT also states a cooling time of 120 minutes and an operational noise level of 40 dB.
Automatic ventilation and antibacterial drying
Another interesting aspect concerns system management after shutdown. Xfresh integrates an automatic ventilation and antibacterial drying function that activates once the system is turned off.
This solution is designed to manage internal spaces and compartment hygiene, which is particularly valuable in a recreational vehicle environment where space is limited and kitchen organization must also account for periods of inactivity.
Applications and target vehicles
Xfresh has been conceived primarily for original equipment integration by recreational vehicle manufacturers (OEMs), with a particular focus on configurations where the kitchen space must serve multiple functions.
HMT identifies three main vehicle categories for which this solution was designed:
- Vans and camper vans; Campervans and converted vans;
- Low-profile motorhomes, over-cab o alcove motorhomes and motorhomes; Semi-integrated, alcove, and A-class motorhomes
- Expedition recreational vehicles, designed to tackle particular itineraries and uses; Expedition vehicles designed to tackle demanding itineraries and specialized uses.
Integration is defined in collaboration with the vehicle manufacturer, taking into account the unit's dimensions, ventilation requirements, and the connections needed to power the various utilities.
It is important to note that compatibility must be verified for each specific platform. Indeed, HMT clarifies that the indicated vehicle categories represent the intended scope of application but do not constitute a statement of universal compatibility for aftermarket installations.

A new interpretation of the on-board kitchen
The HMT Xfresh represents an interesting proposal within the landscape of new furniture and technological solutions for recreational vehicle kitchens, aiming to concentrate multiple functions within a space designed to meet the demands of touring tourism.
Aspects such as the actual dimensions of the module, electrical consumption, power supply, required wattage, and installation procedures remain to be further detailed through additional technical information from the manufacturer. The official datasheet currently available does not list these details.
