Atlantis has chosen the prestigious showcase of the
Caravan Salon to unveil the new
Carbon 4x4: the all-new low-profile motorhome is on display at the show in
Düsseldorf from 28 August to 6 September 2026. It is a significant new release that expands the Italian converter's range: this is a low-profile motorhome with all-wheel drive and unique features, above all because the living cell is made from a sturdy carbon-fibre monocoque.
Following its debut with fibreglass monocoques and the subsequent introduction of carbon-fibre monocoques on front-wheel-drive low-profile motorhomes,
Atlantis now stands out with an exclusive all-wheel-drive model, based on the
Mercedes-Benz 4x4 chassis and fitted with a carbon-fibre monocoque. To create this vehicle,
Atlantis did not simply adapt one of the bodyshells already in production, but redesigned a vehicle specifically for off-road requirements.
To tackle dirt tracks and uneven surfaces, a living cell was created with high levels of rigidity and robustness: the monocoque is a seamless shell, rigid and capable of withstanding considerable stresses, as well as being able to last for a long time. Compared with fibreglass, carbon fibre allows a reduction in weight.
The new
Atlantis Carbon 4x4 has fairly compact dimensions, so it can move easily even on difficult routes: the length is 675 cm and the width stops at 215 cm. Compared with the Atlantis models already in production, this vehicle features an entirely redesigned rear wall, partly to allow it to tackle inclines. A garage compartment is provided at the rear of the vehicle. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 mechanicals, with a 366 cm wheelbase and an approved gross weight of 4,100 kg, are equipped with a powerful 2-litre turbodiesel engine producing 190 hp. The sophisticated 9G-Tronic automatic transmission is also included. The Mercedes-Benz base is equipped with the complete latest-generation ADAS package, and the wheels are fitted with all-terrain tyres.
The systems side is also noteworthy: the Truma Combi heating is diesel and electric, the fridge is a compressor model and the hob is electric induction, so the vehicle does not use gas for its various appliances. To ensure a high degree of autonomy, there are lithium batteries, solar panels and specific equipment, such as a high-power inverter. The double floor ensures good insulation of the living area in winter and protects the water system's tanks from frost. The fresh-water tank holds 200 litres.
Two basic interior variants are available for the
Atlantis Carbon 4x4: with a transverse double bed and with twin beds. Variations are nevertheless possible, to suit specific needs: each Atlantis vehicle is designed and built through an ongoing dialogue with the customer.
