26 August is World Dog Day

A four-legged friend, always by our side!

Published on 18/07/2025

On 26 August we celebrate World Dog Day, a special occasion to pay tribute to dogs, acknowledging their fundamental role in everyday life, in society and even in emergency services.
Established in 2004 by Colleen Paige, an American animal rights activist, the day aims to celebrate the bond between humans and dogs, raise awareness about responsible adoption and combat abandonment.
To mark the occasion, you could adopt a dog from a shelter, volunteer at a kennel, or support animal welfare organisations.

But above all, it’s important to spend time with your dog and, why not, bring it along on holiday – perhaps in a motorhome!
The presence of dogs in everyday life is confirmed by data from the Eurispes research: 41.7% of Italians have a pet at home. In many cases, it’s just one animal (29.8%), but households with two (30.9%) or even three pets (13%) are not uncommon.

The dog takes centre stage on motorhome journeys and… at the Salone del Camper!
Bringing the dog along on a motorhome trip is almost a ritual for many outdoor enthusiasts, and although there’s no official statistic, some data suggests that around 35% of campers regularly travel with at least one pet.

A survey conducted by the Salone del Camper among a sample of 46,000 visitors shows that their presence increased by 16.40% in 2024. Travelling by motorhome becomes the ideal opportunity to spend a holiday with your four-legged friend, but you need to be prepared to make this on-the-road experience truly “pet friendly”.
At the Salone del Camper, you can discover the equipment needed to achieve this goal: essential travel bowls for food and water, beds and cushions, leads, muzzles and hygiene bags, toys, first aid kits, bicycle carriers for pets. Then there are cooling mats, UV-resistant shade covers, brushes to keep the coat clean, and tick removal tweezers.

The world of pet accessories will be on show at the Salone del Camper in Parma, from 13 to 21 September 2025, Shopping Area, Hall 2, along with plenty of other useful information: campsites and equipped motorhome service areas, an app listing vets open 24/7 (Touring Club), pet diaries, travel documents, games and many other features.
