When we went to sleep in the summer of 2025, the impression was of a better presence in the Bove Area. Back then, there were two parking spaces, with and without electricity. The part "without electrical outlets" was cheaper: now, the part without electricity is under construction and closed. When we arrived, the feeling was that it was out of service, barrier open, little light... then, following the messages and signs, we called and realized that "we'll pay them tomorrow". The bathroom and shower facilities are decent but few. To reach the center, I recommend taking the city bus from in front of the gas station in front of the Eurochocolate hotel and going to the train station and from there reaching the center of Perugia with the MiniMetro. About 2 km from the centre, next to the Carabinieri barracks, paid parking, entrance/exit barrier with a camera that reads the license plate and records the time of entry, video surveillance, illuminated, fenced. It has 50 spaces on grid tiles, arranged in two areas: an upper part without electrical hook-up for 25 campers (free in low season), a lower part for 30 campers, tree-lined, with electrical columns, water loading/unloading, 1 bathroom with shower, disabled bathroom, cycle path, bar bistro, children's play area.
Nearby
Historic center, railway station, museums, restaurants, pizzerias, clubs.
What motorhome travellers say
Camper owners consider the area well-located for visiting Perugia, with efficient loading and unloading and basic services. However, they complain about inadequate sanitation in the bathrooms and showers, limited hours, and poor overall maintenance. Users state that the €20 per day price would be fair with better management and constant staff. Generated by AI from the text of user reviews
02/05/26 It's true, I expected more from Perugia for itinerant tourism. Especially on holidays, to go up to the center, there is one bus every hour from the stop near the gas station.
The only rest area available for visiting Perugia. A basic rest area with electricity, unmaintained grounds, and water loading and unloading facilities. A bit noisy day and night due to its proximity to the road. Payment: €24. Convenient bus stop 50 meters away for exploring Perugia.
The area wouldn't be bad if there were polite staff present—you'll find them from 8:00 to 10:30 in the morning, not every day. Access to showers (especially in the summer) wasn't limited to 8:00 to 10:00. The bathrooms weren't used by everyone in the area. There was a security service to prevent drunk people, who have nothing to do with campers, from fighting among campers. The barriers, once present and functioning, were restored.
So, in the end, €24 (starting July 1st) would be fair if the services and staff were present. It's a rest area that's fine for a night's sleep.
PS: Pay in advance somehow, otherwise you'll be threatened with a fine by one of the managers, even if he's never there during the famous check-in hours.
Adequate space, convenient camper service. I didn't use the bathroom or shower. Overall, convenient for the city center and quiet at night. Price in line.
9.3.25 The rest area is almost abandoned. Only one bathroom, which is very dirty, and only one closed shower. It's not free, but costs €20 for 24 hours. The owner is very rude. It's a shame because it's an excellent location for visiting the center.
Completely abandoned, the parking spaces would be well-designed, but only one bathroom (scarcely clean) and one shower (working only in the morning) for 50 campers is truly insufficient. Loading and unloading are also done in a smelly, unlit area with two taps for water and wastewater disposal. It's difficult to figure out which one to use for loading and which for cleaning, given the lack of signage. Furthermore, the price is €20 per day; if it were a clean, guarded site, it would be a fair price, but as things stand, it's completely inappropriate. The only positive is that it's located about 100 meters from the bus stops that take you to Perugia's city center.
Pavement parking area divided into two sections, €20 with electricity and €10 without electricity per day. Convenient for exploring the city: the G bus line is just a few meters away, or you can walk up a steep hill the first way, but it's doable. Close to a busy road. I don't think there are any other services that we didn't use, though.
It could be an excellent camper stop, but it isn't. Compared to reviews I've read in recent years, the rest area is in decline. Anyone passing by can enter with ease. There are air conditioning and electricity. Recommended, but with caution.
Decent camper parking if you don't use anything, very convenient dual loading/unloading. I gave it 3 stars because I think it could be significantly improved. The manager is very absent. Convenient for visiting Perugia.
The only positive thing is the proximity to the center and the convenient unloading. A dirty bathroom (which people outside the camper area also use) and a shower for 50 campers that can only be used from 8:00 to 13:00 (after walking in the evening, you can't wash). Pitches dirty and full of ants. In short, the price would be right (€20) if those few services were clean and usable!
More or less peaceful rest area for the simple reason that it is in a state of decay and used by anyone who passes by there. Bathrooms that are not clean at all and even unusable because they have no door, electric columns that are not at all stable and all at a cost of €20.
Parking area with electricity, loading and unloading and bathroom/shower. The price is €20 for 24 hours, with entrance regulated by automatic bars. About 3 km from the center (uphill!), but close to the bus stop where you 'is the petrol station; the bus on public holidays runs every 40 minutes
Excellent parking area. Clean and quite. Arranged on two levels, the upper one without electricity and more exposed (but cheaper), the lower one complete with all services and more sheltered (but more expensive). Loading and unloading perfectly efficient. 20 minutes on foot to get to the center of Perugia.
Stop area almost one kilometer from the mini metro leading to the city center. € 20 per day which includes electricity, loading and unloading, a bathroom with a shower that is not very clean and a small sink for washing dishes. Access with bar, but not fenced and unattended area. Close to the high-traffic road but at night you can still sleep well.
Area on 2 levels: the first with connection and loading of drinking water and waste water discharge for 20 euros, the second without services for 10 euros. Upon our arrival - on 30 October - the first level was full, we found a place on the second level. The access bar does not work and the staff on duty provides for the payment. The directions to get to the historic center on foot are approximate and leave a lot to interpretations. The bus never passed.
Very neat and clean camper area. Located on two levels: the low one with electricity (20 € / day) while the high one without (10 € / day). Narrow stalls depending on the parking lot. A bathroom for men and women with internal shower and one for the disabled. A sink for dishes. Bus stop for Perugia within walking distance. Recommended.
Convenient to get there and with comfortable drinking water loading and waste water discharge services and electricity. A bathroom with shower and hot water. Cost € 20 / 24h. Close to the bus stop to go to the center. We stayed on a Saturday night, very noisy due to the nightlife traffic. I do not recommend it to those who annoy the noise.
The area is great, with loading and unloading, close to the escalators to the center. We arrived and we couldn't find a place, a very bad thing is that they asked us for 5 euros to get in and out.
The only camper park closest to the center. We only used it to stop for a few hours (12 euros). To the center bus A or G (tickets € 1.50 purchased from the tobacconist on the street after the petrol station). Good drinking water loading and waste water discharge.
Good rest area. 10 minutes on foot and you are at the station, from where you can take the mini metro and various bus lines. Or in 25 minutes always on foot (but uphill) you get to the escalators that lead to Rocca Paolina. It seemed a quiet place to me, too bad you only pay in cash (banknotes and coins, and the rest "up to 45 euros" is given only in coins ...)
Area with 50 seats, electricity and 2 camper service. Cost 18 € / 24h (or 5 € for camper service, maximum time 1h), payment only with banknotes or coins, ATMs and credit cards do not work. 7-8 places are already occupied by campers and permanent caravans, some seem abandoned. Without shade and quite disturbed by the road that passes nearby. The upper parking (free) is closed with bars at 2.5m.
Only area to visit Perugia. Of the toilets, only one toilet without trim remains accessible. Convenient for its proximity to two supermarkets. For transport the best solution seems to be the bus from the distributor above, two lines running every 1/2 hour. We didn't try the mini meter because it seemed distant to us. Two curious details. There is a Wi-fi, but the password is not provided. The vaunted cycle path begins and ends inside the square and it is not clear what it is for. Too many eighteen euros.
Fairly well-kept area, but too expensive considering that the bathrooms are still unreasonably closed. Evidently the administration prefers to save on expenses, but without lowering revenues. Guardian completely absent and wi-fi not working. Presence of foreign peddlers at the exit, complete with fixed trailers (will they be in order?). Bottom line: too expensive for what it offers and very noisy. Too bad there are no alternatives.
Sept. 2020: bathrooms permanently closed. Continuous crossing of passersby on foot in the midst of campers, unfenced, noisy. Really high price for these features, but ... not much choice. Convenient for the center. Bus stop next to the gas station (which sells tickets), QR code on the shelter to get timetables for that stop.
Good for visiting Perugia, bus a few hundred meters away (20 minute walk alternatively but all uphill). Unfortunately, little shade and in August the heat is felt. Cash only payment.
I read negative comments about the lack of toilets. I believe that anyone who rides a camper should absolutely use their own! Let's go back to the rest area: staff present on site, loading, unloading and electricity galore. Noisy until 22: 00/23: 00 but then, for the rest of the night, all in all you sleep well. I have not glimpsed characters defined as ambiguous, except for some elderly resident (Italian). Historic center reachable by the convenient bus line G. Tickets can be purchased at the distributor 50 meters from the parking area. Considering the high demands for money made by other managers in less qualified areas, I think € 18 is a very fair price.
The area is very convenient for visiting Perugia. It's a parking lot and there are pros and cons. In ten minutes at a brisk pace you reach the escalators that lead to the city. The bathrooms I personally also took a shower. Anyway it is a parking lot not a campsite
The area itself would not be bad. Flat served by columns and rather comfortable drain. On the Saturday I was there, there was a sort of gathering of Eastern European citizens with vans used to sell food and alcohol. In the evening we preferred to stop elsewhere. The mini metro can be reached on foot, but it is a rather uncomfortable walk, given the torn and interrupted sidewalks that force multiple crossings. Payment is automatic and the ATM does not work. Toilets that should be for the exclusive use of motorhomes are actually used by anyone.
We arrive and ask for info for the area at the top which should be free, since we didn't need any services because we just wanted to visit the city of Perugia. The manager with a very surly and rude manner tells us that it is closed (not reported anywhere!) And that if we wanted to stay we paid € 10 for 24h without services. It seems excessive to me to ask for € 10 just to park .... Bad |
The parking area is good, but it gets a decent rating for: 1) scarcity of connections (the mini metro is more than 30 minutes on foot and the bus runs every 45 minutes on weekends; 2) 18.00 euros per day is a rate for another level of parking areas, at least in central Italy. PS: the staff is almost never there and the automatic payment does not accept the card, unacceptable in 2019!
Stopped 1 night in early August, I confirm that this is an area where services practically do not exist: dirty and with a defective door. You can at most take a can of hot water but nothing more. The other bathroom was for the exclusive use of a Roma girl. Even if they say that you can't stay for more than 72 hours, in fact there were abandoned campers. Very convenient as a location for excursions (just take a climb and get to Esso to get the A and G buses to P.zza Italia). Even if I parked on the side of the road, I'd say it was quiet at night. Very large and comfortable cockpit drain.
Bad camper stop, there are parked abandoned campers or inhabited by ambiguous characters. Proximity to very busy and noisy road. Unclassifiable bathrooms and showers. We left. Absolutely not to be recommended.
A very dirty bathroom, practically unusable. The current area was full (€ 18 per day) and I then stopped in another adjacent area without electricity (€ 10 per day). To reach the center on foot is not very comfortable, not so much for the distance, as for the slope, it's all uphill road. PRO: the area with current (where, however, I could not stay because full) is comfortable and flat, with convenient loading / unloading CONS: the bathroom, as if it were not there, unusable
Clean and tidy parking area in the square; the services in complete abandonment, the one for the disabled has no door. Parking for cars on Tuesday due to the market. Presence of permanent who arouse some doubt. Quiet for the night. Current included, dear to the offer.
Convenient stop area for the center, bus line A or G. With current loading and unloading. If full you can also stop in the parking lot above, without services though. 18 euros for 24h.
Convenient stop area in the center, reachable by bus line G (stop 300 meters in front of the Agip petrol station and Faldi warehouses, above the nearby Carabinieri barracks). 2 € ticket that can be purchased directly by bus. The walk to the center is not recommended because it is all uphill. Comfortable pitches even for large motorhomes. Load / unload with ample room for maneuver, clean and well organized. Cost of € 10 for 12 hours or € 18 for 24 hours (with electricity) during the Christmas period. Presence of some settled but not disturbing. Too bad for the proximity to the road which is very noisy and disturbs all night. The last pitches at the bottom towards the exit (street side) do not have electricity.
Large, only the lower part with electrical connections. The only thing that the turrets are few and far from some pitches, if you don't find a place near the attack, you need several meters of cable. Two areas for loading and unloading, one bathroom and shower with WC without board. Near the bus stop to reach the historic center and Lidl supermarket at about 200m. A bit noisy due to proximity to a busy street. Anyway comfortable to visit the city.
Great area to visit Perugia. Fairly clean bathrooms and shower with hot water. Despite the proximity to the state road, it is quiet at night. Convenient to the center. Bus or mini metro nearby. Convenient Lidl for shopping.
Close to the road, the only solution to visit Perugia. Electrical connection, clean bathrooms. € 18 for 24 hours and € 12 for 12 hours. Far from the center but convenient bus stop that leads to the center with the possibility of making the ticket in the bar near the camper area. We have been alone during the day
The only camper area to visit Perugia, once you've left the camper you need to walk more than a kilometer to reach the escalators that lead to the center. We stopped in the upper part of the parking lot, where you pay 10 euros only for parking without services, in the lower part you pay 18 euros for 24 h, with drinking water and waste water discharge and 220v current, but it is too noisy adjacent state cause. At the entrance the presence of Romanian vans exchanging packages between them, are courier companies, quiet people, also according to the parking attendant. In the upper part of the parking lot there is the Carabinieri command which gives a sense of security.
Discrete area, with very friendly staff. Very comfortable camper service. Uncomfortable in the center but one solution. Bathrooms and shower leave something to be desired. I find the price a bit too expensive.
Excellent solution to visit Perugia. Friendly staff, easy loading and unloading. At night there are inevitably street noise but bearable. For the center it is advisable to use the Minimetro that starts near the train station (500m from the equipped area) and leads directly to the center with very frequent passages
Stayed overnight and stopped to visit the city, with the center reachable in half an hour on foot, uphill, but with few indications. There are also means, but we have not used them. Car parks quite long and wide, current connections every 3/4 seats. Some campers / vans at the end of the parking lot of supposed nomads, but nothing outrageous, there are always campers of tourists. Convenient camper service. Being adjacent to the road, traffic can be felt at night.
12.08.17 Every Saturday, several vans with Romanian license plates occupy part of the area for their market. Very noisy and uncomfortable area in the center on foot.
Indecent services! One unisex and disabled toilet, the other also served as a hot shower. No light took. Area with bar / restaurant (open only in high season!). Quite comfortable in the historic center, 25 min on foot. It would be much better to have more bathrooms and to have working sockets!
Well maintained area, easily accessible. Too bad for the bathrooms: surely you could do a little more. The historic center of Perugia is about 1.5 km away, on foot and uphill, recommended by bus. Super friendly managers!
Excellent, it only left us a little baffled by the opening of the parking reserved for cars, they told us that they open it during peak periods and pay € 10 instead of 18. For the center take the G5 bus, on the highway overlying the area, where there are two distributors.
