We parked in the dark in a large dirt lot, paying for a couple of hours' parking for the morning (pay only from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM). The completely darkened pay station didn't let us know that there was a 18-ton restriction (the machine lights up, but doesn't indicate any restrictions), and in the morning we woke up to a lively discussion among other campers already fined by a diligent (and already angry) traffic warden who wouldn't listen to a fuss, took photos of each license plate, and issued tickets. Since the place is so isolated, it's not even easy to find other parking spots, and the restriction is in effect 24\/7, so avoid it altogether. Let the local merchants rebel against the administration, which significantly reduces their chances of earning a living. A few more kilometers and we arrive in Molise, with its many towns friendly to campers. OK, I tell myself I'll pay now so I can take my time tomorrow morning, paid until 8 pm the next day. At 8:30 am, there's a furious knock on the door, the traffic warden telling us to leave because there's a mayoral ordinance with signs (which I honestly didn't see) prohibiting camper parking in the entire area. "Where are we going?" I say, and she says, "To the parking area!" I say, "But it's full and for 20 campers!" She says, "I don't know what to tell you," I say, "But I paid for parking!" She shrugs and moves on to the next camper! Practically kicked out! Never again to Scanno or Villalago... as far as I'm concerned, the water might as well dry up! Unfortunately this is not the case, and therefore a sort of wild car parking is created even in the perimeter area where the campers should park. Many of these are therefore forced to park in the central area of the square, with problems also of encumbrance and maneuvering. It would take very little.
